FIREFIGHTER-EMT/OPERATOR
Wage range: $4,635.41-$5,633.85 month; ($17.41-21.26/hour)
48-hour shift on duty with 96 hours off duty
BENEFITS:
California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPers); Section 125 Benefit Plan of up to $1500.00 per month depending on length of service, toward employee’s Health benefits. Eligible to elect to participate in a deferred compensation program. Vacation of 168 hours up to 336 hours annual vacation depending on length of service. Sick leave accrual of 11.08 hours every 14 day pay period. The District pays 108 hours annually in lieu of any and all holidays. Uniforms provided by the District.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION
Copperopolis Fire Protection District is an "all risk" emergency services agency, primarily serving the residents of Copperopolis to Lake Tulloch, Bar XX, Circle XX and Diamond XX subdivisions in Calaveras County. The District covers approximately 187 square miles in the Sierra Foothills. The primary administrative station is in the town of Copperopolis.
SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION
Under minimal supervision, Firefighter EMT responds promptly and efficiently to emergency and non-emergency medical calls, performing all phases of rescue, emergency medical and fire suppression operations. Safely use firefighting and rescue tools, equipment and apparatus. Communicate with bystanders and patients in difficult situations to obtain a medical history and history of events. In addition to EMT responsibilities as Firefighter you will respond to wildland and structure fires emergencies, hazardous materials and rescue incidents, and other public service requests; conduct education sessions regarding fire/emergency safety practices and procedures including CPR and other EMS practices. You will operate emergency apparatus including District-operated, type 1 and type 3 fire apparatus, ALS ambulance and utility vehicles; perform fire station and ground maintenance; drill and train; maintain, test and operate tools and equipment; attend instructional sessions related to the job; participate in the District physical fitness program; participate in public relations and fire prevention activities; prepare reports and perform related duties as assigned; Participates with assigned company in fire prevention, public education and fire inspection activities; Assist in training of volunteers; responsible for specific tasks/programs as assigned by the Fire Chief.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• CSFM Firefighter 1 certification
• Current NREMT-1 or CA-EMT certification and CPR
• If hired as an FF/Paramedic, shall maintain the paramedic position requirements
• CA Class C driver’s license (Firefighter Endorsement or class B within first year)
• ICS 100 and 200
• Possession of Hazardous Materials-First Responder Operational
• Rope Rescue Awareness/Operations or historical equivalent (within first year)
• Vehicle Extrication (within first Year)
• Firefighter Survival (within first year)
• Confined space
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• CSFM Firefighter II
• CA- Paramedic License
• Driver Operator 1A, 1B
• ICS 300
• A.A. degree or Higher in Fire Technology, Public Administration or related field
